Electrical shortlist

Provide luminaire wattage, LED board voltage range, required output current, mains input, and ambient temperature. The first pass separates feasible output windows from nominal wattage matches that could lose regulation at temperature extremes. Dimming requests are checked as an interface requirement—DALI-2, 0-10V, or another specified method—not as a generic “dimmable” checkbox. The result is a focused set of questions for engineering approval, not an undocumented substitute for a fixture test.

Control-path review

Controls performance depends on the driver, sensor or gateway, wiring topology, commissioning settings, and the luminaire load. We organize low-end dimming expectations, fade behavior, standby needs, and emergency-state behavior so the responsible controls engineer can confirm the sequence. Centralized control can simplify policy management; distributed control can improve zoning and fault isolation. Neither architecture is automatically superior, and the chosen driver must follow the project’s control narrative.

Environmental boundary check

Ingress ratings apply to the tested enclosure arrangement and do not erase connector, cable-entry, or luminaire housing limitations. Outdoor and industrial reviews therefore pair the stated IP class with ambient temperature, surge coordination, mounting position, and service access. A sealed integrated assembly may improve compactness and thermal control, while a replaceable driver can reduce later maintenance disruption. Procurement teams receive the boundary conditions that must stay visible in the submittal.

Documentation handover

For a selected family, the handover list can include electrical specifications, declared compatibility information, applicable market certifications, and installation references. UL, CE, and RoHS references are kept within their relevant geography and product scope. Final acceptance remains subject to the complete luminaire configuration and applicable local code. Revision names and approval dates should be captured by the project team so construction receives the same information used during selection.
